Polishing for startup competitions

Polishing Bemba for startup competitionsWe are polishing the new Bemba.com in a closed, Alpha environment. The testing will start on Tuesday 12th of February. If you want to join Bemba during Alpha, let us know. Bemba.com will open in Beta in the next week, getting us ready for the startup competitions that we want to attend.

Startup competitions are great platforms for promoting our business and web service. We are anxious to present the next release of Bemba.com to juries, journalists, entrepreneurs, investors and conference participants. A profile boost can give Bemba awareness in the Internet sector. And winning an award would be great, of course!

Three events with competitions coming up in our neighborhood are Plugg, The Next Web and SpinAwards (Dutch).

Plugg

Plugg is a one day conference focused on raising global awareness for European start-ups in the Web / Mobile 2.0 field. In combination with an impressive list of speakers - one by one visionaries and/or field experts from a variety of industries and all with ties to Europe -, there will be a place for 20 hot start-ups to showcase their business ideas and realizations. One of them will walk away with the Plugg Start-Up of the Year Award.

The Next Web Conference

700 web savvies, internet influentials, industry journalists from 20+ countries will come over to Amsterdam, to be inspired, have fun and do business. Focus is on quality content, and extensive networking opportunities, all with a personal touch. The Next Web is about the future of the web, so it is obvious that startups play a significant role during the Conference. 24 startups will do a 5 minute presentation on main stage. During breaks all attendees and press can visit the startups at their booth in the Company Arena. Also check out the blog about European startups and technology and the conference website.

SpinAwards

The SpinAwards are Dutch annual prizes for creativity in the interactive communication sector. The category ‘Best website concept’ is for standalone websites. The size and popularity of the website do not matter, it’s the concept that counts.

Bemba will become a destination for 'funsurfing' the web, providing easy access to web content that people with similar interests have recently recommended to their friends.
